Club Owner: Carla Johnson The club specialised in the training and coaching of both Mainstream Judo and adaptive Judo for people living with disability or additional needs. We offer classes for juniors, teens and adults in both mainstream and adaptive judo as well as private classes, competition classes, school programmes, female only classes and specialised programmes adapted for individual or organisational needs. Seishin Martial Arts provides a community focused and inclusive training environment that promotes equality, embraces diversity and empowers people to reach their full potential.
Owner and Coach Carla is a judo Black belt, Brazilian jiujitsu blue belt and social worker. Carla has 10 years of judo experience and is highly experienced in coaching across adaptive and mainstream judo. Carla is a multiple time state champion in judo and Brazilian jiujitsu as well as Pan Pacific silver and bronze medallist in Brazilian juijitsu. Carla is a 3 time silver medallist, 2 time bronze medallist and gold medallist at the Australian National Championships.
Coach Lewis has over 28 years of judo experience, is a second dan black belt in Judo and a disability support worker. Lewis is a multiple time state champion national bronze medallist and gold medallist.
The club is proudly inclusive of all genders and abilities and has one of the largest female judo memberships in Tasmania, running specific women's and girls' classes weekly.
Adaptive Judo - for players with disability and additional needs. The 10-Week Adaptive Beginners Programme is the entry point for all adaptive Judoka - please send enquiries to admin@seishinmartialarts.com.au to find out when the next Beginners Programme will be starting or to register. Mainstream classes run all year around and do not require registration prior to attending.
