Kugatsu Judo Club inc –
Situated in the Kingsborough Sports Centre, Kingston is Kugatsu Judo Club inc, with Sensei Steve Kelly (Shodan) at the helm. Renowned for his extremely competent Ne Waza, Sensei Kelly has also helped coach and produce some of the best judo players in Australia in recent years.
His no-nonsense approach to all things judo has helped to establish himself and his players as a formidable opponents, and it is this attitude that he passes on to his young charges. Sensei Kelly describes the club as, “50% Stand up & 50% Ground work
Throws, Take downs, Holds, Strangles & Arm bars”. Originally from New South Wales, Sensei Kelly has relished the opportunities presented to him in Tasmania, and runs regular classes in Kingston, Hobart, Hounville in Tasmania’s picturesque Huon Valley, Bridgewater and soon, Rokeby.

Club Details:
UTAS Judo Club located at Unigym, 3 Grace St, Sandy Bay
Training  times are: Monday, mixed juniors and seniors, 6-8pm, young juniors finishing at 7pm.
Wednesday, juniors 6-7:10pm, seniors 7 to 8:30pm. Seniors warm up while juniors finishing.
Friday: 6-8pm seniors.

Ulverstone Judo Club

Ulverstone Judo Club – Ulverstone Judo Club is situated in the beautiful beach–side town of Ulverstone. The club was under the long running tutelage of John Deacon, a past-President of the Judo Federation of Australia, and used to train in the West Ulverstone showgrounds. However, under his leadership, the club outgrew the premises, and the burgeoning club acquired a new dojo at Water St. in East Ulverstone.
The Ulverstone Judo Club has since grown again, and now boasts state of the art facilities at its present site, the Ulverstone Sports & Recreation Centre, 1 Flora Street, West Ulverstone. The club is well-patroned, and is lead by a very capable coaching staff.
